Analyzing the Impact of Urban Planning and Building Typologies in Urban Heat Island Mitigation

چکیده
Urban and building typologies have a serious impact on the urban climate determine at large magnitude of overheating heat island intensity. The present study aims to analyze various city planning characteristics mitigation island. effect height, street width, aspect ratio, built area orientation, dimensions open spaces distribution ambient surface temperature in is analyzed using Sydney Metropolitan Area as case for both unmitigated mitigated scenarios. Fourteen precincts are developed simulated ENVI-met simulation tool. temperature, wind speed extracted. parameter ‘Gradient Temperature Decrease along Precinct Axis’ (GTD) introduced cooling potential precincts. In precincts, GTD ranges between 0.01 K/m 0.004 K/m. non-mitigated 0.0093 0.0024 A strong correlation observed all with without mitigation, their corresponding average (Height buildings Width streets). higher ratio precinct, lower potential. It also that Built Ratio contribution measures.

The urban heat island Mitigation Impact Screening Tool (MIST)
A web-based screening tool has been developed to assist urban planners and air quality management officials in assessing the potential of urban heat island mitigation strategies to affect the urban climate, ozone air quality, and energy consumption within their cities. The user of the screening tool can select from any of over 200 US cities for which to conduct the analysis. The mitigation stra...

High temperature in the city centers than its’ surroundings known as the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, which is causing discomfort to the urban dwellers in the summer time is gaining much attention around the world because the world is getting urbanized as it advances in technology. Alterations of surface area, improper urban planning, air pollution, etc. are causing this increasingly growing...

The study reports a research aiming to detect the spatial pattern of urban heat island (UHI) phenomena in Beijing, China, and to determine the relationship between the UHI pattern and a set of landscape and demographical variables. The study area has been one of the fastest growing metropolises in China during the past two decades. Land surface radiance temperature (SRT) values were extracted f...
